Ken Cockrel, Jr. is President of the Detroit City Council and is running for re-election. He was first elected to the city council in 1997. Before becoming an elected official, Cockrel was a reporter with the Detroit Free Press and the Grand Rapids Press. Cockrel is a graduate of Wayne State University.
